Fep Hose
FEP Corrugated Tubing

To produce FEP, it must go through a melting process using conventional injection molding with a screw extrusion. FEP corrugated tubing is engineered for flexibility, which enables tubes to turn sharp corners. This property makes it useful as well for other applications requiring sharp bending, allowing the tubing to follow very small bend diameters without diminishing the inside diameter. It also enables hoses made from the material to be built longer, while maintaining precise tolerances.

Features of FEP Corrugated Tubing

Temperature Range: With an operating temperature range of -200°C to +200°C,can withstand extreme conditions, making it suitable for applications in harsh environments.

Ease of Processing: The tubing can be easily flanged and welded, facilitating seamless integration into various systems and processes.

Aging Resistance

Its resistance to aging ensures that it remains functional even after prolonged exposure to ozone, sunlight, and other environmental factors.

High Transparency

Among all plastics, FEP boasts a relatively low refractive index, allowing for clear visualization of the media flowing within the tubing.

Corrosion Resistance

Can withstand the action of all strong acids, strong oxidizing agents, strong reducing agents, and various organic solvents, except for molten alkali metals, fluorinated media, and temperatures above 300°C.

Type of FEP Corrugated Tubing
01.

Standard Corrugated Tubes

Featuring uniform spiral ridges along the entire length, these tubes provide excellent flexibility and dynamic movement resistance. The corrugation allows for repeated bending and vibration absorption without cracking or kinking.

02.

Lined Corrugated Tubes

These tubes feature an internal smooth lining—typically made of FEP or PTFE—that enhances chemical compatibility and reduces fluid resistance. The smooth bore minimizes particle buildup and improves flow efficiency.

03.

Antistatic Corrugated Tubes

Engineered with conductive additives or carbon-filled polymers, these tubes safely dissipate static electricity generated during the flow of powders, solvents, or dry materials. This prevents sparks and electrostatic buildup.

04.

Heavy-Duty Corrugated Tubes

Constructed with thicker walls and reinforced corrugation profiles, these tubes are built to withstand extreme mechanical loads, high pressures, and severe temperature fluctuations.

Applications of FEP Corrugated Tubing

01/

Aerospace industry: Relies on engineered FEP corrugated tubing to withstand wide variations in temperatures and to prevent damage from highly corrosive chemical fuel.

02/

Food & beverage industry: Provides a nonstick and sterile surface along its internal length as well as a low temperature shrink rate.

03/

Water treatment industry: Used for purifying water. Its high melt temperature allows it to be used in heat sterilization, as it can withstand hot water without damaging the tubing. As an excellent UV transmitter, FEP tubing also works well with UV water treatment processes.

04/

Biopharmaceutical industry: Used for laboratories, diagnostic equipment, cell transport and sterile filling, as FEP is highly resistant to chemicals, does not absorb materials and its easy-to-sterilize surfaces make it exceptionally useful in biological and pharmaceutical laboratories.

05/

Environmental industry: Due to its non-leaching properties, it is used in higher quality equipment for testing water, soil and air to ensure samples are not contaminated.

06/

Electrical industry: Due to its high electrical breakdown voltage and low dielectric constant, it makes a good choice for insulating coaxial cables and computer wiring. As FEP tubing also has a smaller diameter, it saves space when used for such applications.

How To Choose FEP Corrugated Tubing

Fep Plastic Tubing

Identify the Application
The first step is to determine the intended application for the FEP Corrugated Tubing. Whether it's for wire protection, fluid transfer, or another use will influence the required specifications.

Temperature and Chemical Requirements
Assess the temperature requirements and any chemicals the tube will come into contact with. FEP is suitable for high temperatures but check the specifics for your application. Consider a corrugated tube with chemical resistance if required.

Evaluate the Required Dimensions
Determine the necessary length and diameter for the tube to fit your application. Consider the flexibility needed, as larger diameters may offer less flexibility.

Check the Electrical Properties
If the tube is for electrical wire protection, ensure it has suitable electrical properties, such as dielectric strength and conductivity.

Consider the Manufacturer's Reputation
Look for reputable manufacturers with experience in producing FEP Corrugated Tubing for your specific industry. Check reviews and quality certifications to ensure they meet the required standards.

Review the Cost and Availability
Once all specifications are clear, compare the costs of different suppliers' products. Consider the tube's availability and delivery time to meet your project's timeline.

Request Samples and Technical Support
Before finalizing the order, request samples of the desired tubes to evaluate their quality. Don't hesitate to contact the supplier's technical support team for clarification on any doubts.

Installation and Usage Precautions of FEP Corrugated Tubing

Avoid Excessive Bending
Although FEP corrugated tubing is flexible, excessive bending or stretching can cause structural damage. During installation, ensure the bend radius meets the manufacturer's recommended values (typically 3-5 times the tubing diameter) and avoid sharp bends or twisting. For example, in data center liquid cooling systems, corrugated tubing connects heat-generating components to the cooling circuit, so sufficient length should be reserved to accommodate thermal expansion and contraction caused by temperature cycling.

Preventing Mechanical Damage
In environments subject to vibration or frequent movement (such as industrial cooling systems), it is recommended to use fixed brackets or protective sleeves to reduce friction and stress concentration. Adding a stainless steel braided outer layer can improve resistance to compression, tension, and abrasion, making it suitable for environments with high mechanical stress.

Controlling Operating Temperature
FEP corrugated tubing typically has a temperature range of -200°C to +200°C, but prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures can accelerate aging. For example, in high-temperature steam transport, avoid sudden changes in temperature to prevent embrittlement or deformation of the material.

Chemical Compatibility Management
FEP material has excellent resistance to most chemicals, but should still be avoided from contact with highly corrosive media such as molten alkali metals (such as sodium and potassium) and fluorine gas. When transporting high-concentration oxidizing acids (such as concentrated nitric acid and sulfuric acid), the pipe should be regularly inspected for embrittlement or discoloration.

Maintenance and Care

Regularly inspect the appearance of the bellows

Inspect the bellows for cracks, wear, deformation, or discoloration. These may indicate material aging or chemical corrosion. Ensure proper sealing at the joints to prevent leaks.

Cleaning and Decontamination

General Cleaning: Wipe the surface with mild soapy water or a neutral detergent. Avoid using strong acids, bases, or organic solvents (such as acetone or alcohol) to prevent damage to the FEP material.
Treatment of Stubborn Stains: If chemical residue remains inside the bellows, rinse with deionized water or a low-concentration acid or base solution (pH 6-8) and dry thoroughly.

Safeguard Storage

Store away from direct sunlight and high temperatures. Store in a cool, dry place.
Avoid heavy objects or excessive stacking to prevent deformation of the bellows.
If the bellows are not in use for an extended period, it is recommended to drain the medium from the bellows and purge with an inert gas (such as nitrogen) to prevent residual corrosion.
